Upon completion of their studies, our graduates will have the required academic and professional knowledge and practical skills, which can ensure their scientific and professional reputation and development in the field of tourism and tourism enterprises nationally and internationally.
More specifically, the graduates of the Department of Tourism Economics and Management, will be able to work as:
- Executives of tourism enterprises (e.g., air carriers, shipping companies, cruise ships, hotels, catering and tourism companies, tour operators, travel agents, event and conference companies) in the fields of management, organization and sales.
- Executives of the wider public sector and in local authorities in matters of tourism policy, development, planning, promotion, and strategy.
- Executives of sectoral bodies of tourism.
- Consultants of development companies and research offices in the field of tourism.
- Researchers and trainers in tourism development, management, and planning.
The fields of employment of our graduates include:
- Management, organization, and operation of tourism companies
- Research and development of new tourism products and services in existing or new tourist destinations
- Promotion and sale of tourism products to consumers directly by the tourism service providers or through the tourism product distribution system
- Management of tourist destinations, at national, regional, and local level
- Public administration, planning and tourism policy at national, regional, and local level
- Development, enforcement, and control of the regulatory framework for the operation of tourism enterprises
- Quality assurance of tourism services and compliance of the final tourism product with the relevant standards (e.g., HACCP, ISO)
- International presence and provision of know-how in developing countries through international organizations (e.g., World Tourism Organization) to achieve sustainable tourism development
- Basic and applied research and tourism education
- Support to VET education and career guidance
